Chef - Grant Buchanan
I am a French trained chef that started my career like most, washing dishes. I learned to love the environment and dedication it takes to succeed in the culinary world by starting at the bottom. From there I worked my way up the culinary ladder absorbing as much as I could from a variety of great chefs. After working in kitchens in and around Atlanta, Ga I packed my bags and headed for Paris, France. There I attended Le Cordon Bleu in the heart of the city and placed in the top 5 of my class in culinary arts as well as pastry arts. It was in France that I was able to perfect the age old techniques and commitment to my craft that have molded my passion to be the best at what I do throughout my career. After my stint in Paris, I went back to Atlanta where I worked in some of the cities top kitchens. I sought to learn as much as possible about the different sectors of this business which led me to try my hand at catering.
I took the role as Executive Catering Chef for Emory University where I learned to create multiple customized menus daily for a variety of client specific needs. I learned to cook specialized menus for a small business meeting of executives to large events for 1000's. I worked as the private chef for the President of Emory University which allowed me to perfect my skills as a personal chef to notable names such as Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter, International Author Salman Rushdie, as well as many others.
As gratifying as my career in catering was I longed to be in the mountains and saw my opportunity. I once again packed my bags and this time headed for the Rockies ending up in the Vail Valley. After a few years of managing a variety of restaurants in the beautiful town of Vail, I decided to head towards the “big city”. I chose to make Boulder my home because it affords me the beautiful setting of the mountains with a close proximity to the big city. It is here that I chose to start my own business doing what I do best, cooking. My food has for the last 12 years spoken for itself. Operating a Personal Chef, Catering, and Consulting business allows me to provide for you the freshest, healthiest, and most tasteful cuisine utilizing local food and community based businesses, all in the comfort of your home.
